Any Amount of Alcohol May Increase Chances of Stroke in Men
A study published on March 8 in Acta Neurologica Scandinavica found that men who drink alcohol more than twice a week have an increased chance of suffering from a stroke.
The risk apparently increased threefold over men that do not partake. To make matters worse, the amount of alcohol consumed has little to no impact on the risk. So regardless whether you indulge in a rewarding glass of wine after work or a cold beer on the weekend, the result would be the same.
The study also found that there is a direct correlation between how much a person drinks and the chance of an ischaemic stroke.
While researchers admit that it is difficult to tell consumers to abstain from alcohol, there have been changes in recent months with public health officials warning the public about the possible severe consequences of alcohol consumption, which may also include memory loss and higher blood pressure.
