10 Ways To Get (And Stay!) Motivated to Work Out
1. Set Specific and Measurable Goals
Lofty or vague goals of “weight-loss” “staying fit” may not be strong enough wording to stay on track. Clearly define each goal, and be able to measure your progress. For example: “Run a 10km race in three months time” or “Lose three inches around my waist in two months time”.
2. Sign-Up

Sign up for a half-marathon, enroll in a 30-day yoga challenge, or pre-pay for a personal trainer with strict cancellation fees.
3. Reward yourself
By setting short-term goals, it allows you to be, and feel, successful. The feeling of success helps you stay motivated. Plan to reward yourself every time you reach a goal – a massage, or a new workout shirt you’ve been coveting.
4. Join a Group
Running groups, weekly cycling clubs, or boot camps are cheap and easy groups to join. You’ll feel motivated to get out of bed when you know others are counting on your being there, and said people will hold you accountable.
5. Pack Your Bag
By packing your gym bag the night before, you won’t be scrambling for it in the morning.
6. Use Your Calendar

The same way you would business meetings, schedule yourself in for your workouts at the beginning of each week.
7. Visualize and Think Positively
Visualize the benefit of a behaviour as a motivational strategy. Imagine the benefits of eating a healthy lunch, and you’ll be more likely to opt for a salad with leafy greens over a heavy and unhealthy meal. If you’ve had a rough day, visualize the rush of endorphins you’ll get after your spin class.
8. Find a Buddy

Check in with them daily. Hold each other accountable, and don’t be a softy!
9. Post your Goals on Social Media
Your online community will act as cheerleaders, and you won’t want to let them down.
10. Do Something You Love!

Working out isn’t meant to be a loathsome activity; steer clear of the exercises you dread. If running isn’t your thing, jump on a spin bike instead of the treadmill. Don’t like gyms? Go for a hike in a nearby conservation area, and get creative along the way by stopping for pushups, planks, or squats.
