Yoga for a Healthy Life
Despite being around for thousands of years, there are those who still question the benefits and effectiveness of yoga. Over the years there have been a number of studies that have both proven and contradicted the ancient practice’s health benefits. However, researchers have recently compiled data that once and for all conclude that yoga is beneficial for easing pain in stiff joints.
Other benefits include reduced morning stiffness (insert joke here), reduced levels of depression and, obvious to all, increased motor functions. Participants of the study ranged from hardcore yoga enthusiasts who practiced twice a day to those who dabbled only once a week.
According to studies published in the Journal of Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Based Medicine, “Yoga reduces stress which is known to exacerbate arthritis. Yoga can improve coping and by altering perspective toward life provide spiritual solace.”
Yoga is nothing to scoff at. And for anyone telling you otherwise, it probably suggests an inherent fear of (alternative) methods of exercise.
