The not so sweet smell from Sriracha
For those of you who love to pair their various meals with the delicious hot sauce Sriracha, it may be advisable to run to your local grocery store and pick up a couple extra bottles – or however much you may need to get you through a shortage, should a shortage occur.
The city of Irwindale, California has used the legal system to apply pressure on Huy Fong Foods Inc. in order to get their factory to shut down. According to residents, the factory produces such an odour – during red-hot Jalapeno pepper harvest season – that it causes their eyes to water and forces them to stay indoors due respiratory issues when they step outside.
At the moment, the Judge has agreed to take the request under consideration but has yet to indicate when he might make a ruling.
Either way, it may eventually be difficult to find Sriracha unless of course Huy Fong Foods is able to put a lid on the smell that is causing an entire city to come to tears.
