……..or at least that’s what she said to us.

We don’t know about you but we here at The Bull are probably not getting the necessary 25 and 40 grams a day of fibre. In fact, thinking about it, there are probably quite a few days when working 9 or 10 hours that even eating feels like an impossibility.

Luckily, there are some easy ways to obtain the necessary amount of fibre while also not requiring a huge meal. Which means, when you’re having a busy day, it is still a possibility to consume that fibre without having to think about it.

The thing is fibre is an important part of your daily diet. Not only does it fill room in our stomachs – meaning that you will be fuller sooner – but it is also needed to eliminate waste and toxins. Selene Vakharia, a holistic nutritionist states, “ [Fibre] helps to sweep the colon, feed our healthy intestinal bacteria, and slow the digestion of food so that we stay full longer and our blood sugar remains at a healthy balance.”

Just make sure when increasing your fibre intake that you also consume more water and do so slowly. If you increase too quickly it could cause stomach problems since your body isn’t used to such a diet.

There’s no harm in adding more fibre. A lot of great food is rich in the stuff so go to your local grocery store and purchase some apples, broccoli, chia seeds and/or brussels sprouts and the benefits will be ongoing.
