Are you drowsy and some days just feel like dragging your feet back to bed? We’ve got 5 quick and healthy fixes to make your mornings a little bit more manageable. Natural energy foods are great to wake you up and make you feel energized, ready to take on the day and they also provide you with essential vitamins to revitalize your body. Here are some great tasting and natural foods that will help jump start your day and make you a morning person.

1. Carbs and Fibre: They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day - they’re right. Make sure to start your day off with a high-carb and high-fibre breakfast. You can do this by selecting foods such as whole wheat toast or high-fibre cereal. If you’re in a hurry, grab a cereal bar but make sure it’s low in sugar and high in fibre. TIP: Try to aim for at least 25-30 grams of fibre daily.

2. Almonds: These bad boys are a great health kick. Dr. Stinson-Burt tells Huffpost Living that “they contain an excellent source of healthy fats and protein in which balances your blood sugar levels”. This leaves your body feeling satisfied, nourished and energized.

3. Dark Chocolate: Yes, I said chocolate! For those snack machine lovers, dark chocolate is a great natural daily boost. It provides an excellent source of iron and magnesium. Make sure the chocolate bar is at least 70 percent natural dark chocolate.

4. Lemon Water: Swap those high sugar drinks for a glass of water and lemon. This is the simplest way to get a boost ever! Water alone is a great way to replenish and awaken your body but the addition of lemon transforms it completely. The electrolytes that the lemon contains turns your plain water into a natural energy drink. A good source of electrolytes is important because it causes cell production which produces energy.

5. Fresh Fruit: Fruit contains natural sugar which can work as a quick pick-me-up when you’re feeling a little drowsy at work. It also helps keeps your blood sugar levels steady because most fruits are packed with fibre. TIP: Try making an energizing smoothie in the morning or to bring with you to work.

Now that you know the basics, you can create your own energizer snack or meal, turning you from drab to fab. So swap some of that junk for some natural, yummy energy packed foods, I promise you’ll feel great!
