Preseason Hopes For The New Toronto Raptors

In recent memory, the Toronto Raptors has not been a destination franchise for players. But after the last season of the NBA, that seems to have changed. There has always been a core following for the Raptors even when the team itself doesn’t perform the way we would all like them to. However, during the 2013-2014 season, not only did the Raptors end up at the top of the Atlantic division, they also pushed the Brooklyn Nets to a seven game series in the playoffs.
Perhaps the most important thing to take away from all this is the fact that Kyle Lowry re-signed with the Raptors for a four-year deal worth $48 million dollars. Not only are we keeping one of the leagues best point guards in Toronto, the Raptors are also simultaneously showing the rest of the league that we are a force to be reckoned with for years to come. Marquee players are now willing to continue playing here instead of leaving. We have the talent, some of the best fans in the league, and with the re-signing of Kyle Lowry, we now have a new culture that says “If you want to win games, Toronto is definitely a place to go”, which is something that could not be said a few years ago.
