Morph looks to change the way we fly

For anyone that has ever been on a plane or even worse, been on a plane for more than a couple hours, then you probably know just how uncomfortable the seating arrangements can be, especially in the economy class. Trying to sit during a seven hour flight, not to mention sleeping, is near impossible and really the only way to accomplish such a feat on an airplane is to make sure that you are plenty tired before you even step foot in the airport.

It may not be too long before that changes. Seymourpowell is in the concept stage of creating a new kind of seat that will essentially change its shape to provide the passenger with more room.

“Morph” is a flexible airline seat that moves away from the traditional individual foam padding in favour of two sheets of fabric laid across three chairs. Behind the sheets are placed two bars separated by movable dividers, which will make the armrests as well as hold the fabric in place. Essentially, what this means is that a great deal of the chair is flexible, allowing the passenger to adjust not only it’s height but also its depth, making for an individual experience.

At the moment, “Morph’ is still in its concept stage and will have to go through a great deal of testing before you start seeing planes with such custom luxury. It’s still a great place to start, making way for a more comfortable experience on an otherwise uncomfortable mode of transportation.
