Another Trump Travesty
The Donald is always an easy target for his poor coif and even poorer choice of words but looking at how the Trump International Hotel & Tower has taken on Toronto, one can only help but walk by and scratch your head at what it has become. At first it was a Stinson-like quarrel with suite owners suing the developer and the hotel for not making good on promises of hotel revenue sharing. Today, hotel residences sit almost empty as most of the original purchasers can’t take possession as no bank will back them with a mortgage.
Current owners have for over a year been trying to unload their units knowing that a significant loss awaits. However, this week one owner in particular grabbed headlines with a planned live auction of his suite to be held at Trump with their blessing but at the last minute, permission was revoked. It seems that although the Trump Hotel has no problem with someone standing outside of their hotel flagging in cars for $20 parking (which is very tacky I may point out), they do take issue with one guy’s ingenious attempt at selling his home. You would think they’ve had enough of all this negative press and would just let the thing go off in order to welcome a new, less battle-scarred, buyer. Nope. The poor guy just wanted to auction off his luxury condo, his Bentley and Faberge Eggs. It’s bad enough that this is actually news but just goes to show how messed up the Trump tale in Toronto has become.
