One of our past cover superstars has grown significantly since our last meeting. Time to catch-up.
When we last spoke to Michele in our 2014 winter issue, she was hot on the tails of selling her Toronto-based startup, SnapSaves, to American couponing giant, Groupon. It was a decision she described as “a great fit.”
She was right. Not long after the acquisition, Groupon re-launched SnapSaves as Snap, a mobile savings app that allows shoppers to take a picture of their grocery receipts and receive money back on selected items.
Michele, meanwhile, has certainly kept herself busy.Could it be any other way for the 29-year-old serial entrepreneur who already has four startups under her belt? Buytopia, the large Canadian e-commerce company that Michele co-founded in 2011, would be enough work for most people. But not Michele. In her spare time, she’s found room for her latest venture: television.
In April, CBC revealed that Michele Romanow would be filling a seat on season 10 of Dragon’s Den, alongside Joe Fresh founder Joe Mimran, Boston Pizza and Mr. Lube tycoon Jim Treveling and merchant banker, Michael Wekerle.
In our interview with Michele in 2014, she predicted that 2015 would be a breakout year long-lasting effects. “2015 is the year of infinity,” she said. It would appear her prediction was correct.
