Hoops vs. Pucks: Which Teams Are You Putting On?

It’s that time of year again. Pure bliss for any true sports fans when the stars align to create an unbeatable match schedule. The next two weeks are going to be relationship kryptonite for anyone who’s spouse just doesn’t get it.

“It” being no less than the NBA and NHL playoff finals, which, this year, truly involves the best teams fighting it out for the championships.

Starting tonight, the puck will drop in Tampa where Stevie Y’s Bolts take on Jonathan Toews and the Blackhawks. Both conference finals went to an epic 7 games and we’re expecting an all-out battle. That said, smart money says Chicago is just too good and has too much experience in recent years to let this one slip away.

Stepping away from the ice and onto the hardwood, we’re pretty intrigued (to put it mildly) by the fact that two rookie coaches are facing off in the finals for the first time ever. But it’s the two teams’ star players that really have fans buzzing. Tipping off in Oakland on Thursday night, MVP Steph Curry’s Warriors will make their first finals appearance in 30+ years against Lebron James and his Cleveland Cavaliers. Lebron, who says he’s playing the best basketball of his career (scary thought), has been in the last 5 NBA Finals, while this is Curry’s, and most of the Warriors, first. We’re expecting the series to go the distance but our money is with the oddsmakers who are favouring Golden State, who they say are deeper and healthier heading into their match-up for the coveted Larry O’Brien Trophy.

While that trophy doesn’t sound quite as awesome as the Stanley Cup, both championship bouts promise to be far more entertaining than the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight. So get ready, place your bets and enjoy. We know we will.
