Spotted on Bay St: Summer Trends for 2015
By Lucy Mazzucco
As the warm weather in Toronto finally rolls in, and is appearing to stay, one can’t help but notice that Torontonian trendsetters are starting to showcase their favorite summer outfits on Bay St. Recently, we welcomed back the Bohemian look which consisted of maxi skirts, fringed accessories and high-waisted bottoms paired with crop tops. It seems that this summer, we’re saying hello to all of these trends once again as they make their comeback with tribal and abstract patterns. You may have also noticed that bright colors have been pushed aside and replaced with neutral tones which are then accessorized with a pop of color which can either be seen on the shoes, or a purse. Let’s face it, bright colors will truly never go out of style during the summer months; but this season, it seems like more people are gravitating toward the neutrals. Needless to say, most of us haven’t actually been to Coachella, but we sure have been embracing the trends. As far as shoes go, stilettos have been replaced with thicker heels and wedges; and we’ve even spotted some people dressing down their outfits by pairing dresses with Converse. So far, it looks like this summer will be a season to showcase inner creativity, as many people are reusing old pieces and finding innovative ways to wear them in an entirely new way. So, channel your inner creativity this summer. Instead of splurging on a bunch of new outfits, choose a few staple pieces you can wear in a multitude of ways. Challenge yourself to step outside your comfort zone and embrace old you can make anew.
