Canadian travellers finding tastes of home abroad
As a Canadian if you’ve ever been to another country and you end up talking about Marijuana, it would appear that ours is not only known, but highly regarded, recommended, and sought after. So much so that many people in different countries are willing to pay top dollar for Canadian weed.
Vietnam just so happens to be one of these places. Canadian weed can be easily found in such places as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, where the price of bud is nearly ten times what you’d normally pay, admittedly due to the fact that smuggling is risky business.
That means that if you are travelling around Hanoi and you desperately want a taste of home, you’ll be spending around $45 for a gram.
According to Huffington Post, this marks a huge shift in the way the global marijuana business has worked in the past. In the 1960’s and 70’s marijuana was supplied by places in the east such as Thailand and India then making their move west. Now with new technology for indoor cultivation of the plant, the markets have shifted.
Luckily for those in Vietnam smoking and possession of Marijuana isn’t considered a priority by their law enforcement with most people smoking outside of cafes.
So, no matter where you go this weekend, if you meet a local and if they are a pothead in any regard they are probably going to ask you about Canadian bud. Just grin in a way that suggests you know full well the potency of it and continue on with your trip. Let them know that they will never know its equal.
