Netflix to Raise Pricing for New Subscribers
If you haven’t already done so, now is the time to activate your Netflix account.
Netflix, which currently offers customers a chance to binge-watch a plethora of shows like House of Cards and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, as well as movies like 21 Jump Street for a mere $7.99 per month, is set to increase its monthly fee by upwards of $2 for new customers.
The streaming video service has recently delved into creating its own original programming, as well as bringing cult favourites such as Arrested Development back from the dead. Though most price increases tend to send a shudder through the community, there is a great deal of potential here. A price increase means that Netflix can continue to provide exceptional, already established programming as well as focus more heavily on its original catalogue. According to Daniel Ernst, an analyst at Hudson Square Research in New York, “The earnings leverage of even just a dollar is pretty substantial. For what Netflix provides, it’s an incredible value for consumers.”
Hopefully, a better catalogue is what we are all in store for.
